The Just Slate design team harness the character of slate to produce a range of stylish and hand-crafted tableware.
From the workshops in Scotland each individual slate is hand-cut piece into a contemporary design. By striking the raw slate correctly a skilled craftsman or women can split the layers to create a flat surface with the detailed “riven” edge surround. Throughout the production process the focus is on the elegance of the finished product and using traditional methods each piece of slate is selected, cut, shaped, felted, oiled and inspected before packing.
Just Slate also brings us Scottish Oak is sourced from a local charity in Fife where it is harvested and kiln dried. The wood is cut to size and and then laser etched by a small team of 3 skilled craftsmen. From there it is handed over to a team of 3 craft-ladies who oil the wood and pack it ready for delivery.
